Adhesive Facades
Surface PreparationFor Painted External Facades; When installing porcelain tile it is first necessary to scrape off all paint from the surface to which the tiles will be applied. For Plastered External Facades; Installation of porcelain tiles cannot be done if plaster on a facade is not adequately attached to its foundation (brick, concrete, etc.). In addition, the plaster surface must be even and must be able to withstand the weight of porcelain tile. In any of the above cases, it is recommended that the plaster by removed and then re-applied before installing porcelain tiles. For Unplastered External Facades; The surface of the facade is formed with cement-based rough plaster. To achieve a more resistant solution, it is recommended not to add chalk to the plaster and use adherence-enhancing construction chemicals. For Concrete External Facades; A concrete facade requires scraping in order to create a textured look that will enable adhesives to hold better. Before installing porcelain tiles, first apply a coat of Kale Astar in order to eliminate dust and increase adherence. Porcelain Tile Application and Grouting
Project Phase It is the preparation of a porcelain layering project in order to minimise attrition of porcelain in practise. Adherence Depending on the facade, the porcelain tiles are coated by using the back buttering method. The Kalekim Technomax 30* adhesive is applied both to the external surface of the building and to the back of the porcelain tiles. Care should be taken to apply the adhesive to all surfaces to achieve 100% coverage. The tiles are then adhered to the facade surface.
Prior to grouting, make sure the Kalekim Technomax 30 has securely adhered to the surface and that the grout has not come in contact with water. Grouting must be carried out in dry weather and after a minimum of 24 hours following the installation of the tiles. Porcelain tiles usually have grout joints of 4 mm and we recommend the use of Kalekim Fugaflex (1-6 mm)*. Depending on the characteristics of the porcelain tiles, if the grout joints are more that 6 mm, the use of Kalekim Fugaflex (4-20 mm)* is recommended. Maintenance and CleaningAfter installation, a coating of SeraCare Surface Sealant is recommended in order to minimize the formation of dirt on the surface of external facades,. Properties of Materials Used for InstallationKalekim First Coating This is an acrylic-based product used to reduce the absorbency on surfaces in order to help increase their ability to adhere. Consumption is 100 gr. per square meter, drying time is 45-60 minutes. It is applied with a brush or a roll. Kalekim Technomax 30 This is a double compound product used for the application of porcelain tiles up to 30 meter altitudes. Consumption is 5.5-6.5 kg. per square meter, shelling time is 20 minutes. 8x8x8 sizes are applied with a combed trowel. Kalekim Fugaflex (1-6mm) This is used in the grout joints. Its receptacle time is 1 hour and for porcelain tiles of 30x60, consumption is approximately 320 gr. per square meter. It is applied with a rubber trowel. SeraCare Surface Sealant It is water-resistant and prevents the formation of dirt on ceramic tiles and fugas. Consumption is 10 litres per 100 square meters and it is applied with a sponge. |
